IDEAL IMPLANTS

Conveniently located to serve the areas of Corpus Christi and South Texas

Some women prefer silicone implants to saline implants, since they believe that they feel more natural than saline implants. On the other hand, some women prefer saline implants since they are considered safer than silicone implants. Finally, women no longer have to choose between a natural feel and their own safety!

At A Better You Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center in Corpus Christi, Texas, we are proud to offer the IDEAL IMPLANT, a revolutionary new type of implant that allows for the structure of silicone with the safety of saline.

About the IDEAL IMPLANT

ideal-implant-corpus-christiYears of research and clinical trials have provided us with the IDEAL IMPLANT. This FDA approved implant combines the natural look and feel of a silicone implant with the safety of a saline one. The implant is comprised of a series of inner shells, resulting in an exterior that minimizes visible movement of the saline solution inside and reduces the chance of rippling. Furthermore, since the inside of the implant is comprised of saline solution, a rupture, although rare, will be immediately noticeable and patients will know that they need to go see a doctor. Plus, in that case, the body safely and naturally absorbs the saline solution.

IDEAL IMPLANT Versus Saline Implants

There is no structure to a saline implant – it can be compared to a water balloon. Therefore, the implant will look and feel less natural and has a higher chance of wrinkling or rippling. The IDEAL IMPLANT counters these disadvantages of saline implants, since it has a series of inner shells. These inner shells give the implant structure, similar to natural breast tissue.

IDEAL IMPLANT Versus Silicone Implants

While silicone implants may feel more natural than a saline implants, there is a higher chance of a silicone implant rupturing. Patients typically desire a smaller incision. However, since silicone implants are filled prior to insertion, they may be damaged when inserted through a small incision. This means a larger incision is usually necessary. The IDEAL IMPLANT can be inserted through a smaller incision.

Compared to silicone implants, the IDEAL IMPLANT has a lower chance for capsular contracture and is also less likely to rupture. Perhaps best of all, with the IDEAL IMPLANT, there is no chance of a silent rupture, or a visibly undetectable rupturing of the implant. This means that there’s no need for MRI scans to detect silent ruptures. Finally, it is easier to remove the IDEAL IMPLANT, if the patient wants to replace their implants in the future or decides that they want to sport their natural breasts again. The IDEAL IMPLANT has the lowest complications of any breast implants.

IDEAL IMPLANT Design

The IDEAL IMPLANT consists of a series of nested shells and two separate compartments that are filled with saline solution. This helps minimize the chance for rupture, the movement of the saline, and the chance for rippling. Furthermore, the edges have been lowered so that they better fit to the chest wall.

Why Women Get Breast Implants

There are a variety of different reasons why women choose to get breast implants. At A Better You Cosmetic Surgery and Laser Center, we don’t believe that there are any “right” or “wrong” reasons for getting implants. However, it is important to consider one’s reasoning for getting implants, as it will aid in the process of giving the patient augmented breasts that they love!

Some reasons why women choose to get breast implants include:

  • Improving the proportion of their body
  • Correcting asymmetry between their breasts
  • Restoring volume following pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Reconstruction following a mastectomy or injury

Often times, women are simply want to add volume to their bust. Perhaps, they want clothes to fit better or to be able to fill out a swimsuit. Whatever the reason, Dr. Gentile welcomes you into his office to discuss how the IDEAL IMPLANT might be ideal for you. Feel free to contact us today to get started.

Good Candidates

Good candidates for the IDEAL IMPLANT are women who want natural feeling breast implants, but have concerns about the safety of silicone implants and silent rupturing. Candidates may be women who currently have saline or silicone implants and are interested in replacing their implants with IDEAL IMPLANTS or this may be their first breast augmentation with implants.

Candidates for any cosmetic surgery should be in good mental and physical health. Patient’s breasts should be fully developed, should be over the age of 18, and they should have realistic expectations for the outcome of breast augmentation with IDEAL IMPLANTS. Patients should also be nonsmokers or willing to quit prior to and after surgery. Breast surgery cannot be performed on women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.

The Procedure

A breast augmentation procedure typically takes about one hour and is performed under general anesthesia on an outpatient basis.

Incisions

breast augmentation incisionsOne of the first steps of the surgery is making the appropriate incision where the implant will be inserted.

The three most common incisions include:

  • Periareolar incision: around the nipple-areola complex
  • Inframammary incision: underneath the breast crease
  • Transaxillary incision: through the armpit

However, Dr. Gentile almost always uses the inframammary incision. This technique will cause the least amount of bleeding and the incision is less than an inch long, leaving almost no visible scarring.

Placement

Next, Dr. Gentile will place the IDEAL IMPLANT into the newly created breast pocket.

There are two main implants placement locations:

  • Subglandular: on top of the chest muscle (best option if breast are slightly sagging)
  • Submuscular: under the chest muscle (most common)

After the IDEAL IMPLANTS have been properly positioned, Dr. Gentile will close the surgical incisions. Then, the patient will be taken to a recovery room where they can wake up from anesthesia surrounded by our friendly and knowledgeable staff. Patients are free to return home following surgery. However, they should make prior arrangements to have somebody else drive them home. They should also make arrangements for an adult to stay with them on the first night following surgery.

Breast Augmentation Recovery

Immediately following surgery, patients may experience some pain, bruising, and/or swelling around the operation site. These side effects will gradually dissipate on their own. Dr. Gentile will provide patients with a prescription for medication that can help reduce any discomfort. This should be filled prior to the surgery date.

For the first day or two following surgery, patients will want to rest as much as possible. However, they will be instructed to do some light walking. They will be able to return to work in about three to four days. However, they should not do any heavy lifting for four to six weeks. Generally Dr. Gentile will allow exercises below the trunk after 2 weeks.

Patients are required to return to our Corpus Christi office for follow-up appointments in 2 weeks and 4-6 weeks following the procedure. Dr. Gentile is committed to forming lasting relationships with all of his patients to ensure that they are happy with their results long term.

Additional / Alternative Procedures

Breast Lift

It is important for patients to understand that while a breast augmentation with IDEAL IMPLANTS will increase the volume of the breasts, it will not improve the appearance of significantly sagging or drooping breasts. Breasts may begin to sag due to age, weight loss, or as a result of pregnancy or breastfeeding. Sometimes, the breasts can appear pendulous.

In order to counteract sagging or pendulous breasts, a breast lift procedure is required. A breast lift removes excess skin from the breasts and lifts them to a more attractive height. This procedure is frequently performed in conjunction with breast augmentation for fuller breasts in a youthful position.

Breast Implant Revision

Sometimes, women already have silicone or saline implants, but they want to switch them out for the IDEAL IMPLANT. This process will require that the patient first undergo a breast implant removal procedure. When possible, Dr. Gentile will remove the implant through the same incision that the implant was inserted through. Typically, removing the implant and replacing it with the IDEAL IMPLANT will be performed on the same day.

Consultation

ideal-breast-implantDuring an initial consultation with Dr. Gentile, patients will have the opportunity to discuss why they are interested in breast augmentation or breast revision with IDEAL IMPLANTS. Dr. Gentile will provide them with more detailed information about IDEAL IMPLANTS so that the patient feels fully informed about the implant and procedure.

At this time, Dr. Gentile will also help the patient make an informed decision about what size implant they should receive. Implants are measured in cubic centimeters, not cup size. Dr. Gentile will utilize photographs and his staff will size you to help get a realistic understanding of what their new breasts will look like. Other factors to be discussed at the time of the consultation include implant placement, incision location, and postoperative care.

Pricing

IDEAL IMPLANTS cost slightly more than traditional silicone or saline implants. However, at A Better You Cosmetic Surgery Center, we believe that this slight extra fee is worth the natural feel and added safety. We also offer CareCredit for patients who are interested in financing. Cost and financing can be discussed in further depth at the time of the consultation.
