Our in house laser (LIGHTSHEER SC High Powered Pulsed Diode Laser System) is the latest state of the art in Laser hair removal and has been cleared by the FDA for permanent hair reduction. 

We  were one of the first to introduce Laser Hair Removal  to the Corpus Christi and South Texas area back in 1999 and therefore we believe we have the unique experience you need. 

The Laser Hair Removal uses laser light energy to remove unwanted hair. It has a contact cooling hand-piece, which represents a breakthrough in patient safety and comfort.   The Laser shoots a light beam, which passes through the skin without affecting it and leaving your skin untouched.   It then reaches its target "the hair follicle" which is destroyed when the energy is transformed into heat.   The light emitted by the LightSheer Diode Laser is absorbed by the melanin pigment ( melanin pigments give hair its color).   The laser scans the skin rather than treating one hair at a time like in electrolysis.   This permits large areas such as the legs, face, arms, and back to be treated fast and without pain.    Additionally, the LightSheer Diode Laser is able to treat a broader range of skin types than most other hair removal lasers.   It is delicate enough for a woman's fine, sensitive skin and robust enough for a man's back or arms.

Typical female patients are those with unwanted hair on the face, neck, bikini hairlines, underarms, legs and arms.

Typical male patients are those with unwanted hair on the ears, back, posterior neck, hands, feet, fingers and toes.

Almost everyone is a candidate for laser hair removal.   The most dramatic results occur in those patients who have dark hair and light or fair skin complexion.   To prepare your skin for Laser Hair Removal you must avoid sunbathing/tanning, waxing, hormone treatments, birth control pill and any skin irritants for at least 6 weeks before treatment to avoid any skin discoloration.   The procedure takes from a few minutes to one hour depending on how many sites need treatment.   The area will turn pink or red within thirty minutes and remain so for a few hours.   You can return to your regular activities immediately after the treatment.

It is important to understand that hair grows in cycles, which varies from four to twelve months according to body location and that the laser only affects hair in its early growth phase.   There are three phases: growth, regression and resting.   At any given time the majority of our body hair is in the active growth phase.   Repeated sessions will treat the other follicles when they reenter the growth phase.   Three to more sessions are generally needed spaced weeks to months apart.    In a study presented to the FDA with this laser system, permanent hair reduction occurred in 89% of the patients.   On average, about half of the hair had permanent hair reduction after two treatments with many patients having near complete permanent hair reduction after two treatments while a few had little or no permanent hair reduction.   According to the FDA, "permanent hair reduction" is defined as the long term stable reduction in the number of hairs regrowing after a treatment regime.   This was a large multi-center clinical, long term, prospective, blinded, controlled and quantitative study.   Despite all this, we are more cautious and find it best for now to consider the procedure as not entirely permanent.
